90s Project by Íria Marina- Festa de Abertura
90s Project is Íria Marina’s first photo project exhibited in Maputo.
The photographs revive the 90s through the use of fashion trends and vibes of the time using young Mozambican artists and creative people born and/or raised in the 90s, knowing that Mozambique was coming out of civil war and opening up to the world at the time.
The photographs were taken in different bairros/urban landmarks of Maputo to recreate the sense of street community that was prominent at the time.
The exhibition is a multi-media collaborative concept, featuring a book, a clothing line with exclusive designs by Celso Chan, Judy Reissmann, Taila Carrilho and Euclides Chemane, and an installation from 9 November until 20 November.
90s Project also features a documentary directed by Kelvin Nhantumbo that will be screened on 20 November, followed by a discussion with Íria Marina, Kelvin Nhantumbo and other guests.
Legendary 90s DJ Samito will be honoring us with a throwback 90s set on the opening night from 20h00
